Northumberland OPP make arson arrest in connection to area fires

Arson charges have been laid in connection to two structure fires that occurred in Roseneath and a third in Alderville First Nation.
Jeffrey Niles, 32, of Alderville First Nation, was arrested and charged with three counts of arson - damage to property.
Emergency services responded to two structure fires in Roseneath in the area of County Road 45 and 3rd Line Road on at 5:15 a.m. on April 14 of this year. The structure fires were in close vicinity to each other, and the cause of the fire was believed to be suspicious. No one was in the structures at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
Previously, on June 16, 2019, a structure fire was reported on Megyaak Drive in Alderville First Nation. No one was in the structure at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. This fire was also deemed to be suspicious.

Northumberland OPP Crime Unit made an arrest Sept. 14 in relation to all three structure fires. Niles is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on Oct. 17.
