The Pontiac Community Players are gearing up for this season's summer farce, with an interesting twist on a classic tale. The troupe will be performing the play "Marian" which is a female-led remix of the classic tale of Robin Hood.
Tanya Leigh Maguire, a long-time member of the Community Players, will be directing and starring in the production. She said that they had originally planned on a different performance but some of their regular actors weren't able to commit this year. With a pool of performers that was mostly women, she decided to play the hand she was dealt and switch to a female-led production, settling on "Marian or The True Tale of Robin Hood" by Adam Szymkowicz .
Maguire said that she was excited to showcase the hard work that the cast and crew have been putting into the play over the course of the summer. She said that regulars to their productions would be blown away by the lighting and set design.
The play will be performed at Coronation Hall in Bristol (206 chemin River), from Wednesday August 23 to Saturday August 26 at 7:30 p.m. The first show features a dinner beforehand that starts at 6 p.m. For more information, call 819-647-2547.
