Osgoode resident Angelique Iles has published her first book which came out in June.
The fantasy novel Kentree's Stolen Souls--Escape into magic is the first book of a trilogy and describes a young woman who finds her way into the world of magic she had always wished for, only to find out things are not always as they seem.
The book is self-published through Amazon. Iles had long wanted to be a writer, but like so many people in creative industries, got distracted by regular jobs. The pandemic provided the opportunity to work towards her goal.
Iles wrote the book herself, then enlisted the help of twelve friends who read and critiqued her later versions. She felt the story was timely and waiting for it to be accepted, printed and distributed by a major publishing house would take too long. The book has received very good reviews, but on the self-publishing journey Iles is finding the marketing more of a chore than expected.
