Over the weekend, the 12th annual Country Music Alberta Awards (CMAAs) took over the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino in Calgary.
Artists from all over Alberta and beyond came together to celebrate and to award those who made contributions in the country music community over the year.
Mallory Chipman of Edmonton and Frédrique “Freddi” MacDougall of Montreal, who are originally from Alberta, make up the country duo called “The Goddamsels.” They spoke about their time at the CMAAs, saying that it is their first time being at this event and that "it's a lot of fun."
The CMAAs held a songwriter’s circle on Sunday morning before the awards show to follow that evening where The Goddamsels, along with other artists, were able to share songs that are personal to them and explain their journeys - from playing small shows to playing eventually at the CMAAs.
