On Tuesday, Prince Edward County Council authorized the funding of an additional evening ambulance service in the county.
The service expansion will cost $436,643, and be funded through the Tax Rate Stabilization Reserve.
Some councillors had concerns about whether Prince Edward County would see the majority benefit through increasing local evening service because of increasing demands of other nearby regions on the shared ambulance system that Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services operates.
CAO Marcia Wallace responded that staff level and council level representation in organization would ensure that ambulance resources would be distributed equitably.
