Quadra Island resident Robyn Mawhinney vying for Area C seat in SRD election

With British Columbians heading to the polls on Oct. 15 to elect municipal governments, two candidates are running to represent Area C of the Strathcona Regional District. Marc Doll and Robyn Mawhinney have thrown their hats in the ring to represent the area which includes Quadra and Read islands, as well as smaller islands and inlets off Vancouver Island.

Mawhinney is hoping that her longtime residency on Quadra Island, the connections she's made within all age groups over the decades, and her people skills appeal to voters.

The candidate says she's been a farmer, community activist and graphic designer for several years. She feels that she's developed skills that make her a good listener and collaborator. She adds that her work as a graphic designer has not only provided interaction with many local business owners, but has also helped her to tackle problems from different angles.
