ValhallaFest is a three-day, family-friendly music extravaganza held at the Lower Shames Estate along the Zymagotitz River, just outside of Terrace, from June 22 to June 24.

The grounds span over 75 acres of land set in the midst of an old-growth forest, where festival-goers can take in displayed artwork or dance to live electronic music until 4 a.m.

The festival curators bring DJs (and bands this year!) from all over the country to bring an electronic festival of momentous proportions. If the name Valhalla conjures images of Norse mythology, fire, swords and ships, than you're conjuring correctly.

Features of the festival include Freyja's Garden, old growth forest cathedral nestled among the giant cedar trees, as well as an 11 foot sword stuck in the ground near Main Stage.

ValhallaFest takes place in a parcel of private land with old-growth forest, so care for the land is "extremely important to the culture of the weekend", Erinn McPherson told CICK News. Erinn McPherson is one of the organizers of the event as well as founding member of the fest.

For campers who want a quieter space away from the 9,000 watt sound system, there are sleeping options available 300-metres away from the main stage.

To understand Valhalla Fest, it must be experienced personally, but cruise their photos on Facebook to see for yourself and listen to the link below to hear CICK New's full interview with Erinn McPherson.
