Now, the museum's Heritage Garden takes up that narrow space, creating a cool, green oasis downtown.<\/p>\n<p>People come and sit on the benches shaded under the grape arbour to eat lunch, and families come and spend time in the garden as a way to escape the heat.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteer gardeners show up Wednesday morning to dig in the dirt, and pass on their expertise to each other.<\/p>\n<p>The museum sells plant clippings and grape jelly, made with grapes from the vine, to raise money to continually improve the garden.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from this, every brick and every plant in the garden has a story behind it, and represents the heritage of the city.<\/p>\n<p><em>Listen to volunteer gardener Linda Dickson and museum curator Cathy English tour StokeFM around their Heritage Garden:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two decades ago it was a dingy back alley beside the Revelstoke Museum and Archives.
