{"id":98482,"date":"2022-06-02T17:07:40","date_gmt":"2022-06-02T21:07:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=98482"},"modified":"2022-06-02T17:07:40","modified_gmt":"2022-06-02T21:07:40","slug":"the-mcmurray-metis-cultural-center-is-taking-shape-on-mcdonald-island","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/the-mcmurray-metis-cultural-center-is-taking-shape-on-mcdonald-island\/","title":{"rendered":"The McMurray M\u00e9tis cultural center is taking shape on Mcdonald island"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the first cement pour back in June 2021, the McMurray M\u00e9tis Cultural Center\u2019s construction is well underway.<\/p>\n<p>McMuarry M\u00e9tis President Peter Hanson says that it\u2019s 40-50 percent complete, with the project slated to be finished by December 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Hanson says that some of the amenities that will be inside the cultural center will include a gathering space that will seat up to 450 people, along with a teaching kitchen to learn how to cook traditional food.<\/p>\n<p>Hanson hopes that this new building will bring Canadians from all over the country to Fort McMurray to see the M\u00e9tis Cultural Center and learn and experience the culture.<\/p>\n<p>The architects from Mindful Architecture Maginnis Cocivera and Genevieve Noel not only design, but also supervise the project.
