{"id":98274,"date":"2022-06-02T06:01:28","date_gmt":"2022-06-02T10:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=98274"},"modified":"2022-06-02T06:01:28","modified_gmt":"2022-06-02T10:01:28","slug":"fire-at-former-bowater-site-quickly-contained","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/fire-at-former-bowater-site-quickly-contained\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire at former Bowater site quickly contained"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Monday\u2019s fire at the former Bowater plant was quickly brought under control by fire services from across Queens County.<\/p>\n<p>Fire crews responded to page at 4:56pm Monday on the old mill property and arrived to find a fire at the former TMP plant.<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool Fire Department spokesperson John Long says the plant was being demolished and it appears that work may have been the ignition source.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were using some cutting devices which may have caused the fire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Long says all Queens fire departments were on the scene except for Mill Village who stood by at Port Medway.<\/p>\n<p>He says the fire was contained quickly and did not spread to any other buildings on the site.<\/p>\n<p>Long says it took approximately three hours for the 50 fire personnel to knock down the blaze.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were no unique challenges just a lot of stairs to get to the top.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Long says crews planned to return Tuesday to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reported by Ed Halverson\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>E-mail:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:edhalversonnews@gmail.com\">edhalversonnews@gmail.com<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Twitter: @edwardhalverson<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>To listen to the broadcast of this story, press play below.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Monday\u2019s fire at the former Bowater plant was quickly brought under control by fire services from across Queens County.
