{"id":96395,"date":"2022-05-20T13:56:25","date_gmt":"2022-05-20T17:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=96395"},"modified":"2022-05-20T13:56:25","modified_gmt":"2022-05-20T17:56:25","slug":"rcmp-enforce-injunction-in-argenta-arrest-people-protesting-old-growth-logging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/rcmp-enforce-injunction-in-argenta-arrest-people-protesting-old-growth-logging\/","title":{"rendered":"RCMP enforce injunction in Argenta, arrest people protesting old growth logging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The RCMP\u2019s Community Incident Response Group (CIRG) arrested over a dozen protestors Tuesday while they were blockading the Salisbury Creek Forest Service Road near Argenta, B.C.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">RCMP were enforcing an injunction obtained by the logging company Cooper Creek Cedar. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The company has a license to log the Argenta-Johnson\u2019s Landing Face forest, a<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0slope of old growth larch over Kootenay Lake.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1SBQkBWqd8yj11JvWEPucrZhBb7MLqt5fQqwCLDIo6bM\/edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">injunction<\/a> is from 2019. It prohibits protestors from obstructing operations of the company in the area they have a license to log.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">People on the ground reported on social media that witnesses not involved in the blockade, who were on the side of the road, were arrested.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>StokeFM reached out to witnesses, Cooper Creek Cedar, the Kaslo RCMP, and the MLA who represents the area, Brittny Anderson.
