With fuel prices continuing to rise across the province of Alberta, getting to a designated area is becoming more costly.<\/p>\n

According to \u00a0Statistics Canada <\/a>; back in March, the price of fuel was 176.9 cents per litre. Now in the month of May, prices at the pump are now sitting at 180.9 cent per litre.<\/p>\n

The rise is also having an impact on Indigenous communities, according to Chairman of The Kikino Metis Settlement Chad Cardinal. It is also affecting farmers and members of the community.<\/p>\n\nhttps:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Fuel-Clip-01-Daniel-2.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n

Cardinal says there are programs that Kikino has in place for members to help keep the prices down and to keep money in residents\u2019 pockets.<\/p>\nhttps:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Fuel-Clip-02-Daniel-1.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n

Some of the programs that Kikino Metis Settlement has to offer is a housing program called 50\/50, where the community matches the members amount they bring that goes towards housing upgrades.
