The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) announced on Monday that it will fully endorse all Toronto and GTA (Greater Toronto Area) NDP candidates in the lead up to the Ontario election on June 2.<\/p>\n
The federation cites their disapproval of Premier Doug Ford\u2019s cuts and changes to Ontario education system. Since 2018 and well into the COVID-19 pandemic,\u00a0 the federation said the PCS have cut $1.3 billion in funding,\u00a0 increased class sizes and were unwilling to find earlier solutions to remote schooling for high school students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n As part of the endorsements, NDP candidates were invited to speak at these press conferences. Toronto Centre's NDP candidate Kristyn Wong-Tam was unable to attend.<\/p>\n Due to the effects of the pandemic on both the quality of education and its infrastructure, the federation said that the education system needs an overhaul.
