{"id":94138,"date":"2022-05-06T09:58:55","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T13:58:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=94138"},"modified":"2022-05-06T09:58:55","modified_gmt":"2022-05-06T13:58:55","slug":"nova-scotia-abandons-non-resident-property-tax","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/nova-scotia-abandons-non-resident-property-tax\/","title":{"rendered":"Nova Scotia abandons non-resident property tax"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston announced government will not be moving forward with the non-resident property tax.<\/p>\n<p>In a release the Premier said, \"My intentions all along were to improve home affordability, not to be at odds with our core value of being a welcoming province. I have heard for months from Nova Scotians who are concerned about housing affordability and want to be able to buy their first home. I commit to finding a tool to make it more affordable for first-time homebuyers.\"<\/p>\n<p>The release goes on to say the non-resident property tax will be removed completely for all non-residents who own residential property in Nova Scotia. The non-resident deed transfer tax will proceed as planned.
