{"id":9086,"date":"2020-09-07T13:14:56","date_gmt":"2020-09-07T17:14:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=9086"},"modified":"2020-09-08T10:17:43","modified_gmt":"2020-09-08T14:17:43","slug":"covid-cases-in-the-campbell-river-discovery-island-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/covid-cases-in-the-campbell-river-discovery-island-area\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 cases in the Campbell River &#8211; Discovery Island area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Roy L Hales<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/covid-19.bccdc.ca\/\">BC Centre for Disease Control,<\/a> as of Sept. 3 there have been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bccdc.ca\/Health-Info-Site\/PublishingImages\/health-info\/diseases-conditions\/covid-19\/case-counts-press-statements\/covid19_hsda_cumulative_14days_20200903.png\">64 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the North Island region this year.<\/a> Only four were still active. None of these were critical. Cropped image from Cumulative cases January to July 2020<\/a> - BC Centre for Disease Control.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Managing our reality<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/explore-next-door\/\">In a recent interview<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/mary-ruth-snyder\/\">Mary Ruth Snyder<\/a>, Executive Director of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/campbellriverchamber.ca\/\">Campbell River Chamber of Commerce<\/a>, said, \u201cI think we have all come to understand that the global pandemic is not going away anytime soon. British Columbians, especially the Islanders, have really done a superb job managing our reality. All of the local businesses that I am aware of were able to pivot early to e-commerce, home delivery, and take-out options.
