The tournament will take place at Mont-Hill Golf and Country Club from September 18-20 and will be <\/span>hosted by Chief Mark Hill and the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tournament Director John Lawrence said it was very exciting to announce the inaugural event. The tournament will allow the Indigenous community to compete at a provincial level: the event is \"open to golfers of First Nations (North American Indian), M\u00e9tis, or Inuk (Inuit) descent,\" according to the Golf Ontario website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Lawrence also stated that this tournament is a \"starting point\"\u2014it could mean more events coming to the community in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Registration opened April 6. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anyone interested is welcome to register at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goa.ca\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.gao.ca<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Listen to the full CJKS story below:<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In February, the Golf Association of Ontario announced via their website the first annual Indigenous Ontario Golf Championship.
