{"id":82607,"date":"2022-02-18T19:18:28","date_gmt":"2022-02-19T00:18:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=82607"},"modified":"2022-02-18T19:23:53","modified_gmt":"2022-02-19T00:23:53","slug":"ward-maps-uncharted-decision-coming-by-early-march-town-of-sackville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/ward-maps-uncharted-decision-coming-by-early-march-town-of-sackville\/","title":{"rendered":"Ward maps uncharted, decision coming by early March: Town of Sackville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Town of Sackville released details this week about the<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0planned amalgamation of Sackville with other surrounding communities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The new entity, which is being called Entity 40 pending the choice of a name, will use a ward system to elect councillors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The entity's council will have eight councillors and one mayor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At least four of the councillors will be from within the current town of Sackville's boundary.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The maps for those wards have yet to be decided, but that decision is expected to be made by March 4.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Those are some of the decisions announced this week after provincially-appointed facilitator Chad Peters met with an advisory committee of eight local representatives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Thursday, Erica Butler spoke with Sackville Mayor Shawn Mesheau, a member of the advisory committee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She asked him about the decision to set aside representation by population in favour of more representation for rural areas in the new Entity 40.
