The Strathcona Regional District<\/a> (SRD) is hosting a number of virtual information sessions in the first week of March to recruit volunteers for emergency preparedness.<\/span><\/p>\n

Volunteers are needed for three different teams.\u00a0<\/span>The first is Emergency Support Services<\/a> (ESS), which help evacuees find shelter and food as well as reunite families. <\/span>The second is the Emergency Communications Team<\/a> (ECT), who are folks willing to become certified Amateur Radio Operators for when the primary systems of communication are affected. <\/span>The third is the Canadian Animal Disaster Response Team<\/a> (CDART), who help with the setup and maintenance of temporary animal relief shelters with the ultimate goal of reuniting animals with their human families.<\/span><\/p>\n

The SRD sponsors local Public Safety Lifeline Volunteer programs as part of their regional approach to providing humanitarian aid throughout the area. <\/span><\/p>\n
