{"id":80447,"date":"2022-02-07T14:23:57","date_gmt":"2022-02-07T19:23:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=80447"},"modified":"2022-02-07T16:21:43","modified_gmt":"2022-02-07T21:21:43","slug":"klahoose-first-nation-economic-development-thriving-under-committed-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/klahoose-first-nation-economic-development-thriving-under-committed-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"Klahoose First Nation economic development thriving under committed leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qxmc.org\/\">Qathen Xwegus Management Corporation<\/a> (QXMC), which oversees sustainably-focused economic development for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.klahoose.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Klahoose First Nation<\/a>, is a busy beehive of activity, thanks to its innovative team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Adding to its established strong presence in the hydroelectric, aquaculture and forestry sectors, QXMC is rapidly expanding its tourism offerings with transportation tie-ins and exploring seemingly endless new ideas to complement existing projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Klahoose Chief Kevin Peacey, who also chairs the QXMC board of directors, says, \u201cone of our biggest goals is to be looking after our nation.\u201d In his third term as chief, he has made it a priority to create work for band members who want to come home to the nation\u2019s village in Squirrel Cove on Cortes Island, BC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Bruno Pereira is QXMC\u2019s general manager, hired about two years ago.
