{"id":77622,"date":"2022-01-18T12:23:42","date_gmt":"2022-01-18T17:23:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=77622"},"modified":"2022-01-18T14:24:46","modified_gmt":"2022-01-18T19:24:46","slug":"food-bank-finding-a-way-to-support-people-through-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/food-bank-finding-a-way-to-support-people-through-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"Food bank finding a way to support people through pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Running a food bank in the middle of a pandemic is tough, but Shelly Panczyk took over responsibility for the Queens County Food Bank in September 2020.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to a truckload of food brought in at the beginning of each week by Feed Nova Scotia, the food bank still relies on donations from the local grocery stores and private donors to supply clients.<\/p>\n<p>To keep the lights on and rent paid they also need to raise money.<\/p>\n<p>Before the pandemic, the organization would host fundraisers, but COVID-19 restrictions forced them to find new avenues to find that cash.<\/p>\n<p>Panczyk came up with the idea for the thrift store which opened to the public in April 2021.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got it open, and people just came to it. It was unbelievable.
