For over 25 years, The Watershed Sentinel<\/em> has served its readers in British Columbia. It began as a community newsletter on Cortes Island<\/a> and grew to be an an award winning environmental magazine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CKTZ News spoke with founder Delores Broten about the magazine's story and about <\/span>her partner in life and work, Don Malcolm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Working side by side as co-founders of the magazine, their relationship over the decades ran parallel to the growth of Watershed Sentinel.<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Years ago, Don was diagnosed with dementia. He had this poem printed on business cards that he handed out to everyone he met as his way of contributing to a better world:<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Family of Strangers In this humanity,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

In which we all live,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

We are all A part of each other.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

What a wonderful world We will inherit,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

When we recognize ourselves When we meet.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

This fall, on Sept. 23, Don passed away in Comox, BC.<\/p>\n

Delores and his loved ones pass on\u00a0gratitude to all the wonderful caregivers along this path he travelled. <\/span><\/p>\n
