The award is an internationally recognized honour that celebrates outstanding achievement in educational, historical and entertainment projects.<\/p>\n<p>The Indigenous Peoples Experience opened in July.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit explores the rich cultures of local First Nations and M\u00e9tis peoples while encouraging guests to seek out truths lived by Indigenous peoples before and after Canada\u2019s founding.<\/p>\n<p>Renee Williams is the senior vice president of the Fort Edmonton Management Company. Williams thanked everyone involved in the making of the exhibit, including Elders, knowledge keepers, Indigenous interpreters and the builders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis award is for the community. It\u2019s for the community, in- community members, Indigenous partners who worked with us on this space, and we share this award with all the incredible Indigenous interpreters at Fort Edmonton Park, and we\u2019re just really happy that we\u2019re able to bring this home to the Edmonton market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An official ceremony to bestow the Thea Award is scheduled for April 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The Thea is awarded by the Themed Entertainment Association to recognize achievement, talent and personal excellence within the themed entertainment industry.<\/p>\n<p>Listen to the audio for the complete story.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The winner of the 28th\u00a0Annual Thea Award goes to the Indigenous Peoples Experience exhibit at Fort Edmonton Park.
