{"id":70207,"date":"2021-11-21T18:44:28","date_gmt":"2021-11-21T23:44:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=70207"},"modified":"2021-11-25T01:19:18","modified_gmt":"2021-11-25T06:19:18","slug":"winter-holiday-craft-events-start-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/winter-holiday-craft-events-start-this-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter holiday craft events start this weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With about a month to go before many people celebrate the holidays with gift-giving, local artists and makers are pooling together to showcase their wares.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This Saturday (Nov. 27), from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gorge Gazebo, is the Craft Corral, a first-time event organized by local artist Kim Marks. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Marks has an art stand at the Gorge Harbour Marina Resort during the summer. She said that besides a varied selection of edible and craft items, there will be live music at this weekend's event, as she feels people are missing events and the opportunity to come together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There is no admission charge but people are encouraged to bring a non-perishable item for the food bank. Image courtesy of Craft Corral.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In Squirrel Cove, this weekend kicks off the holiday opening hours for the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/cortescrafts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cortes Craft Co-op Shop<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which has been an island staple for more than 30 years.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Irene Blueth of <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.etsy.com\/shop\/SilverCedarJewelry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Silver Cedar Jewelry<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> has been an artist member for nearly as long and recalled how the shop's building was constructed by members shortly after her arrival on the island.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The shop typically opens for the summer months, and then again prior to Christmas.
