Among the best known of those activists has been the documentarian Sid Chow Tan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For the third year in succession, he is presenting \u201cMy Art is Activism,\u201d a collection of video clips from his personal collection. When asked, Sid Tan says, \u201cI\u2019ve seen a lot. I\u2019ve written about it a lot. I\u2019ve thought about it a lot and I\u2019ve actually done some actions. And \u2018My Art is Activism\u2019 is the culmination of some of those acts.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But when the subject of a fourth collection next year arrises, Tan says, \u201cWell, that\u2019s a tough one because four is not such a great <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">number in Chinese.\u201d When skipping four and going to five is mentioned, \u201cYou can do that, or you can go to six. It\u2019s a good <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">number eight is a good number.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.ca\/e\/my-art-is-activism-part-iii-tickets-183054499937\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">event<\/a> is presented online on Zoom on November 2 at 3 pm and will be followed by live Q&amp;A with Sid.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The presentation will then be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartofthecityfestival.com\/archived-videos-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">archived<\/a> for the next year on the Heart of the City website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Along with the artistic talents of the Downtown Eastside, the annual Heart of the City Festival highlights the activism that\u2019s been vital to the solidarity of the neighbourhood.
