Outgoing Mayor Jim Gibson decided to\u00a0<a class=\"spip_site\" href=\"http:\/\/chipfm.com\/Jim-Gibson-steps-back-after-12-years-as-mayor\" rel=\"external\">step back from public life<\/a>\u00a0after 12 years at the helm of the council.<\/p>\n<p>Doug Rousselle is one of the four candidates, and said that he\u2019d like to bring some new ideas to the municipality. A long-time resident of the Ottawa Valley, he moved to \u201cSwisha\u201d as locals call it, around four years ago.<\/p>\n<p>He said that what he likes about the municipality is that it\u2019s quiet and peaceful:<\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-66668-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Clip-Doug-Rousselle-Swisha-attributes.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Clip-Doug-Rousselle-Swisha-attributes.mp3\">https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Clip-Doug-Rousselle-Swisha-attributes.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>The small island community is located roughly 100 km from the rest of the MRC and is only accessible via Ontario.
