{"id":65281,"date":"2021-10-21T11:34:40","date_gmt":"2021-10-21T15:34:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=65281"},"modified":"2021-10-21T15:14:54","modified_gmt":"2021-10-21T19:14:54","slug":"gorge-harbour-marina-resort-officially-in-new-hands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/gorge-harbour-marina-resort-officially-in-new-hands\/","title":{"rendered":"Gorge Harbour Marina Resort officially in new hands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ownership of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gorgeharbour.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gorge Harbour Marina Resort<\/a> (GHM) officially transferred to the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qxmc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Qathen Xwegus Management Corporation<\/a> (QXMC)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which oversees the business ventures for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.klahoose.org\/\">Klahoose First Nation<\/a>, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on Oct. 4.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sale of the resort was finalized <a href=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/gorge-harbour-marina-resort-changes-ownership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two months prior <\/a>with\u00a0<\/span>previous owners Richard and Michelle Glickman. Over their decade and a half proprietorship of the GHM, the Glickmans had made major investments into updating the facilities, which receive a huge influx of summer tourists, many arriving by boat. Bill Dougan and Tammy Allwork have been managing the resort for many years, becoming nearly synonymous with the operation in the wider community. Allwork\u2019s parents had owned and operated the very same resort in the 1970s.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bruno Pereira, general manager of QXMC,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">emphasized that the long-term vision focuses on keeping the GHM open to the locals, who are the primary patrons in the off-season. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\"We want to keep it a community place and a Cortes landmark,\" he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A ceremony to officially commemorate the transition to new ownership is planned for early December.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\"W<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e feel that this is a great opportunity for everyone - for the resort, the community and the Klahoose.
