The event is typically held on the July long weekend, and 2021 marks the 39th year of this festival in Northern BC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>But this year, after a difficult decision made by the Bulkley Valley Folk Music Society Board, the festival (slated for Sept. 10-11) was cancelled on Saturday Sept. 4.<\/p>\n<p>The following is a post made on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/bulkleyvalleyfolkmusicsociety\">BVFMS Facebook page<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\"The Bulkley Valley Folk Music Society has made the difficult decision to cancel the fall 2021 Midsummer Festival scheduled for September 10 &amp;11<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\">. The escalating numbers of Covid-19 cases have made it unfeasible for us to put on a festival without putting our community, performers, and volunteers at risk, as well as adding to the burden on our health care systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We know how important this festival is to our community. We are saddened to lose the opportunity to bring talented bands from across Canada to our valley to celebrate music alongside local and regional performers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We want to thank all the volunteers, organizers, community groups, and businesses that have supported us this year and worked to put on the festival. The Midsummer Festival will be back in full force once the pandemic passes.
