Pontiac Green Party candidate Shaughn McArthur wrapped up his canoe trip 150 km down the Gatineau river on Monday (September 6), finishing just below Parliament Hill. Accompanied by Hull-Aylmer candidate Simon Gnocchini-Messier, he spoke about his various platform commitments.<\/p>\n

He said that the trip, which he called the \"Paddle for a livable future\" was a good opportunity to visit with constituents and get away from the \u201cnoise of the campaign trail.\u201d<\/p>\n

Starting in Maniwaki on Aug. 29, McArthur stopped in various communities along the river, and invited residents and media to join him on the water.<\/p>\n\n

McArthur also touched on the Chalk River near surface disposal facility project, which he called \u201can outrage\u201d, pointing to the vocal opposition to the project from local community groups and experts.
