Taza Park off Grey Eagle Drive and Weaselhead Road in Calgary had a ground-breaking ceremony on Aug. 31 for two new anchor tenants, Metro Ford and Big 4 Motors.<\/span><\/p>\n Taza Park, owned and operated by the Tsuut\u2019ina Nation on their territory, is one of three villages in the Taza development. It\u00a0 will accommodate\u00a0<\/span>25 million square feet of commercial, retail, entertainment, residential, light industrial and other uses developed over the coming decades. A\u00a0<\/span>Costco was the first anchor tenant.<\/span><\/p>\n The two motor companies will occupy a 75,000 sq. ft. space and will be located on eight acres of land overlooking Tsuut\u2019ina.<\/span><\/p>\n It will include 44 service and detailing bays and 13 vehicle electrical charging stations. It will be built with sustainable features that reflect the territory of the nation, reducing energy consumption and emissions.<\/span><\/p>\n The day started off with a drum circle, with performances by the Tsuut\u2019ina powwow dancers and a prayer given by Tsuut\u2019ina Elder Gerald Meguinis.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018Partnering with Tsuu\u2019tina First Nation, this venture is another great way to move toward reconciliation and economic prosperity for the nation\u2019, said Bryce Starlight, vice-president of the Taza Development Corporation.<\/span><\/p>\n A future pedestrian-friendly Market Street will further enhance the development for shopping, dining and social activities.<\/span><\/p>\n The plaza is slated to open September 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" ‘Something historic is coming’ reads one of the two billboards that sits in front of the construction site.
