{"id":54110,"date":"2021-07-23T10:52:28","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T14:52:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=54110"},"modified":"2021-07-23T15:53:41","modified_gmt":"2021-07-23T19:53:41","slug":"the-buzz-at-the-museum-listening-to-bees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/the-buzz-at-the-museum-listening-to-bees\/","title":{"rendered":"The buzz at the Cortes museum: Summer exhibit showcases bees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Anastasia Avvakumova<\/p>\n<p>At the <a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/cortes-island-museum\/\">Cortes Island Museum and Archives Society<\/a>\u00a0(CIMAS), a current exhibit celebrates bees while the online archives take off in popularity.<\/p>\n<p>The Listening to Bees exhibit opened on World Bee Day, May 20,\u00a0 with a live demonstration of a beehive. The public can catch it at the museum again on Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon. The exhibit includes bee lore, past and present beekeepers\u2019 tools, informative displays showcasing the four native species, a slew of educational videos which can be watched on demand, fascinating bee facts and the work by mycologist <a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/paul-stamets\/\">Paul Stamets<\/a>\u00a0in recovering the health of honeybees through mycelium extracts.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_54112\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a class=\"dt-pswp-item\" href=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/IMG_4087.jpg\" data-dt-img-description=\"display showing Paul Stamets\u2019 work on how mycelium extracts can save honeybees.
