Sackville town council will convene a special meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss Municipal Reform.\u00a0 Mayor Shawn Mesheau says he hopes the meeting will allow council to agree on recommendations to send to Local Governance Reform minister Daniel Allain.\u00a0 Mesheau also reports back on his meeting with other local area mayors last week.<\/span><\/p>\n The RCMP have identified suspects in their investigation into several suspicious fires in the Sackville area, according to RCMP sergeant Paul Gagn\u00e9.\u00a0 Gagn\u00e9 can\u2019t say which incidents the suspects are connected with, citing protection of the investigation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n VIA Rail says it is working \u201cwith the local community\u201d to find \u201csolutions for a partnership\u201d that will lead to an eventual reopening of the Sackville Train Station, which has been closed since 2012.\u00a0 The station in Amherst, Nova Scotia, which was closed at the same time, is under a lease-to-own agreement brokered with the town of Amherst, VIA Rail, and a local restaurant owner.<\/span><\/p>\n The provincial government and the New Brunswick Nurses Union have reached tentative collective agreements for two bargaining units representing more than 6,000 registered nurses, nurse practitioners, nurse managers and nurse supervisors.
