The Baitul mosque in the Galt area of Cambridge was severely vandalized on Wednesday, July 14.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Baitul Mosque volunteer Nabeel Rana, Cambridge Mayor Kathryn McGarry and Coalition of Muslim Women KW President Sarah Shafiq spoke with CKMS about the hateful act. Rana estimates the damage at about $15,000 to $20,000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Waterloo Regional Police made an arrest in connection with the incident on July 17.<\/p>\n

\"A 35-year-old Cambridge male has been arrested in connection to this investigation. He has been charged with Break and Enter, Property Damage Over $5,000, Possession of Stolen Property, as well as CDSA offences,\" Waterloo Regional Police stated on Twitter July 17.<\/p>\n

The Cambridge community has come together to support the mosque while the vandalism comes off the heels of the murder of four members of a Muslim family in London last month.<\/span><\/p>\n

Radio Waterloo published a piece on the attack in London, Ontario a few weeks ago, as well.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n
