Self proclaimed \u2018rabble rouser\u2019\u00a0Geraldine Kenny\u00a0<\/a>had an idea. In addition to the usual form letters, she brought four clip boards, paper and pens. As people passed her table, she asked if they would like to write a letter to Horgan.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd they all said yes!\u201d said a very excited Kenny.<\/p>\n It turns out \u2018they\u2019 were young people; \u201cOlder people, even Quadra residents\u201d were not as interested.<\/p>\n \u201cAll the young people grabbed at the chance to write a letter. Many of them said, \u2018Oh I always wanted to write a letter but never got round to it,\u201d said Kenny. \u201cMost of these were young women, in the company of their friends, so there were three or four together. I had four clipboards and they were scribbling away: sitting in the grass; crouched by the table; kneeling at the table; standing up.\u201d<\/p>\n There was no hesitation when Kenny asked if they wanted to read their letters out.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen one letter was read out, we all clapped and applauded, and the next one read out her letter. It was so empowering and I am going to say beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n The Quadra Island Farmers Market wasn\u2019t as busy as in pre-COVID times. Instead of \u201cup to 50 tables,\u201d the organizers allowed 20. There was a \u201ccomfortable flow-through of visitors,\u201d channeled in a clockwise direction.<\/p>\n At the end of the four hour market, there were 50 letters for Premier Horgan.<\/p>\n Some of the letters people wrote to Premier Horgan.
