Prince George has a new band on the scene, inspired by the likes of Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, and Jimmy Page.<\/span><\/p>\n

Formed 6 months ago, the classic rock inspired outfit is made of up 5 friends; lead vocalist Kohan O\u2019Connor, guitar players Feliz Toma and Ian Forman, bass player Kelvin Ndihokubwyo, and drummer Finn Goguer-Davis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMe and Felix...we were just at a get together, and I was like \u2018hey, I play guitar\u2019, then I found out that he plays guitar and we started jamming. It took forever to get Kohan to come out and sing, but finally we got him,\u201d explains Forman in regards to how the band<\/span><\/p>\n

got together. When Finn joined three months later, the band realized that he added the skills they needed to play and produce mu<\/span>sic, as not only a hobby, but for an audience.<\/p>\n

The band began practicing, songwriting, and showing up for jam sessions. \u201cWe rented out a studio and then we were pretty consistent, three times a week for several hours for a long time,\u201d says Toma. \u201cWe figured out pretty quick that we had some creative juice going,\u201d Forman adds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With Prince George roots, O\u2019Connor believes <\/span>that they have something bands from larger cities don\u2019t have: \u201cWe have a hometown advantage\u2026 a lot of people are excited to hear what we have to offer and we are excited to give it to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

COVID-19 has limited the band\u2019s ambitions, however, band member Goguer-Davis hopes that Coldsouth will be able to make an impact after restrictions are lifted. \u201cWe\u2019d like to play more local shows when the opportunity arises...maybe tour BC... and get an album recorded.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, the band is looking forward to playing at the Omineca Arts Centre<\/a> for a fundraising event at the end of April.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Coldsouth\u2019s songs are unique and authentic with a personal touch that reflects the north. O\u2019Connor shares, <\/span>\u201ceveryone's excited, [and] we are excited to show them what we are made of. The love has been there, we are really lucky to have that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
