Proposed bylaw discussed<\/h2>\n
Although recreational cannabis was officially legalized by the federal government in 2018, there is no provision for this in Cortes Island\u2019s existing bylaws.<\/p>\n
As\u00a0Cortes Island Regional Director Noba Anderson<\/a>\u00a0explained, at the recent SRD Board meeting, \u201cThis is a long time coming. We\u2019ve got zoning updates for cannabis production and sale in both\u00a0areas C<\/a>\u00a0and D and this is just wanting to come into alignment with the Federal allowances that are, I think, over two and a half years old now.
