Or a return to normalcy?<\/p>\n<h2>Greater Campbell River<\/h2>\n<p>There is one region that is unaffected. The epi-Week report for the week ending on Saturday March 20th shows 18 cases in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/greater-campbell-river-health-area\/\">Greater Campbell River Health Area<\/a>, the same number as last week.<\/p>\n<p>There are two specific reports.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/quadraislandmedical\/posts\/774032390218078\">On March 12th, the Quadra Island Medical Clinic posted<\/a>\u00a0a notice that \u201cToday Public Health have informed us of positive cases of Covid-19 on Quadra Island.\u201d*<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sd72.bc.ca\/school\/penfield\/Documents1\/Penfield%20Elem%20General%20Notification%20Letter%20March%2018%202021.pdf\">On March 18th, Penfield Elementary in Campbell River<\/a>\u00a0alerted parents that \u201ca member of the school community has tested positive for COVID 19. . They are isolating and are being followed by Island Health. Dates of potential exposure in the school community occurred: March 15, 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img class=\"wp-image-94051 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/March-COVID-stats.png\" alt=\"COVID is retreating in North Vancouver Island\" width=\"800\" height=\"240\" \/><figcaption>Selective daily stats from Island Health \u2013 graph by Roy L Hales<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Vaccinations: Quadra, Read &amp; Cortes Islands<\/h2>\n<p>Vaccinations for \u00a0Indigenous\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/quadra-island\/\">Quadra Island<\/a>\u00a0residents aged 65+ and non-Indigenous people aged 80+, started Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The entire adult population of Read Island is eligible to receive vaccinations on March 31.<\/p>\n<p>The whole island vaccination on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/cortes-island\/\">Cortes Island<\/a>\u00a0start this morning, at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/gorge-hall\/\">Gorge Hall<\/a>,\u00a0 and will continue until Saturday.<\/p>\n<h2>Answers about vaccines<\/h2>\n<p>In light of recent media attention, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cortesisland.com\/cgi-bin\/tideline\/show_article_attachment.cgi?TY=ar&amp;ID=13527&amp;F=covid_facts.pdf&amp;X=1616535918000\/covid_facts.pdf\">Cortes Medical Clinic posted some answers about COVID vaccines on the Tideline<\/a>. Here are some highlights:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHealth Canada has determined that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine meets the stringent, safety, efficacy and quality requirements for use in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/pfizer\/\">Pfizer<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/moderna-vaccination\/\">Moderna<\/a>\u00a0vaccines are similar in their effectiveness in preventing COVID-19.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth Pfizer and Moderna vaccine products require two does for the series.
