{"id":48801,"date":"2021-03-25T11:02:23","date_gmt":"2021-03-25T15:02:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=48801"},"modified":"2021-03-25T14:52:56","modified_gmt":"2021-03-25T18:52:56","slug":"broom-bash-in-mansons-landing-provincial-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/broom-bash-in-mansons-landing-provincial-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Broom Bash in Mansons Landing Provincial Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Roy L Hales<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/foci\/\">Friends of Cortes Island (FOCI)<\/a> carried out a <a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/broom-bash\/\">Broom Bash<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/mansons-landing-provincial-park\/\">Mansons Landing Provincial Park <\/a>\u00a0on March 13.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cortescurrents.ca\/tag\/helen-hall\/\">Helen Hall<\/a>, executive director of FOCI, explained the event is held annually.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe broom is encroaching into both the fragile coastal sand ecosystem and the forested part of the Spit, competing with and shading out native vegetation growing here.
