{"id":42739,"date":"2021-03-01T16:03:44","date_gmt":"2021-03-01T21:03:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=42739"},"modified":"2021-12-06T14:58:24","modified_gmt":"2021-12-06T19:58:24","slug":"queens-listening-to-ideas-for-fort-point-lighthouse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/queens-listening-to-ideas-for-fort-point-lighthouse\/","title":{"rendered":"Region of Queens listening to ideas for Fort Point lighthouse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fort Point lighthouse will be under new management whenever it reopens.<\/p>\n<p>Region of Queens issued a request for proposals for anyone interested in operating the historic lighthouse that stands where the Mersey River enters the town of Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Darlene Norman says whoever takes on the responsible is getting a great opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe offer a great lighthouse, at no cost, to make money out of, from May to October,\u201d said Norman. \u201cI\u2019m thinking, wow, if you were a young, bright, business student with a big imagination, you could make a buck out of there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The request for proposals closed last Thursday (Feb. 25).<\/p>\n<p>Municipal staff couldn\u2019t comment on how many applications had been submitted as they must now be reviewed, evaluated and presented to the council for consideration.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s expected those deliberations will take place and a winner chosen, at council\u2019s second meeting of the month on March 23.<\/p>\n<p>Norman is excited to learn what ideas are brought forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, if you like people and you don\u2019t mind putting a lot of hours in for five months, what a great thing it would be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reported by Ed Halverson\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>E-mail:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:edhalversonnews@gmail.com\">edhalversonnews@gmail.com<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Twitter: @edwardhalverson<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>To listen to the broadcast of this story, press play below.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fort Point lighthouse will be under new management whenever it reopens.
