Chris Lenshyn, a Community Restorative Practice Coordinator at Abbotsford Restorative Justice and Advocacy Association spoke to CIVL on what the restorative justice movement is. Lenshyn says restorative justice is philosophy that emphasizes healing and accountability to repair harm and wrongdoing. He also says that the Abbotsford Restorative Justice and Advocacy Association operates outside of the criminal justice system, which means instead of people going to a court, they bring people who have interacted with each other through criminal activity or harm and facilitate a dialogue to repair the harm that was done.
