locally on climate action (part 2)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Host: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/shalaks_j\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shalaka Jadhav<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Climate action is often reported and engaged with at the national and international scale, but often, the local organizing efforts are lesser known.\u00a0 50x30 Waterloo Region is a grassroots, community-led campaign advocating for the need for Waterloo Region to commit to a 50 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, in line with the imperatives of climate science and centering social justice and well-being.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For this segment, I will be in conversation with four community members:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kai Reimer-Watts, a climate justice organizer;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stephanie Goertz, a volunteer with the 50x30WR campaign;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Megan Ruttan, a climate justice organizer, and Fridays for Future Waterloo Region organizer, and\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Andres Fuentes, who has engaged on climate work locally and globally for over 10 years.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In part two of this two-part series, we\u2019ll talk about the history of organizing in the Region that the campaign is building on, the importance of building solidarity, and what a just climate future could look like, in the Region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span
