Sophia Orth, a 17-year-old Grade 12 student spoke with CIVL on why she had to switch over from a CGM to an FGM to check her glucose levels. A CGM is a Continuous glucose monitor while an FGM is a Flash glucose monitor. A CGM is more accurate and detects glucose levels quicker than an FGM. Unfortunately, most insurance plans do not cover the cost for a CGM and that was a major problem for Sophia due to financial issues.
