Distributions Payeur inc. sells and services tractors and other farming equipment. They are a popular farming name in Brome-Missisquoi giving reason as to why they would like to re-locate to the Eastern Townships.<\/p>\n
Payeur has purchased the former Canadian Ponds facility. Currently, the location allows for a car dealership, but not the servicing and sale of farming equipment. The Town of Brome Lake has approved a request for a zone change.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn plain English, it\u2019s a change of a certain area inside a zone which now is not conform,\u201d explained Richard Burcombe, mayor of Brome Lake.<\/p>\n
This is traditionally called spot zoning.<\/p>\n
The change of zone will only allow for the sale of light agricultural and forestry vehicles. Small tractors and their attachments are classified as light vehicles. Combines, harvesters and large tractors are not permitted to be sold at this location.<\/p>\n
\u201cReally, I mean, it\u2019s not a, it is just a small change of zoning inside a zoning, but not, but I repeat its not for the whole zone,\u201d clarified Burcombe.<\/p>\n
If the property is ever to be sold and used for the sale of heavier vehicles, a new request of zone change would have to be made to the town.<\/p>\n
