The relocated\u00a0Whaletown Post Office<\/a>\u00a0has finally got its approved\u00a0Canada Post<\/a>\u00a0internet connection!\u00a0Twincomm<\/a> and Canada Post\u2019s technical staff were able to get the PO online in January, so semi-automation is restored for many routine postal functions. Customers can once again use credit cards.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Post Office now has a Telus landline number again: (250) 935-6341<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The Whaletown community has continued to support the relocated building during many upgrades since its relocation last year. Both volunteer and paid hours have resulted in proper under-floor insulation, power metering, an electric heater, and other improvements. Canada Post supplied an entire new wall of (sequentially numbered!) post boxes, installed by local carpenters.<\/p>\n In\u00a0a recent Tideline article<\/a>,\u00a0Postmistress Mary Clare<\/a>\u00a0expressed her particular thanks to\u00a0Hubert Havelaar<\/a>,\u00a0Bruce Harrison<\/a>,\u00a0Bill Wheeler<\/a>,\u00a0John Messent<\/a>,\u00a0Carol London<\/a>,\u00a0Tammy<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Bill<\/a>,\u00a0Rod<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Karen Lee<\/a>\u00a0as well as others who \u201cwished to remain anonymous.\u201d The community participated in a hand-made knitted hat raffle just before the holidays, which helped to raise money for several of the recent upgrades.
