{"id":34165,"date":"2021-01-21T20:39:59","date_gmt":"2021-01-22T01:39:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=34165"},"modified":"2021-01-21T20:39:59","modified_gmt":"2021-01-22T01:39:59","slug":"conduct-becoming-plays-through-the-pandemic-but-an-album-is-unlikely","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/conduct-becoming-plays-through-the-pandemic-but-an-album-is-unlikely\/","title":{"rendered":"Conduct Becoming plays through the pandemic, but an album is unlikely"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Conduct Becoming turns 20 years old this year, but is having a rough go with COVID-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>The group was originally formed in 2001 to honor former Mount A student Jason Abraham and raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.<\/p>\n<p>Conduct Becoming helps Mount Allison students produce their own music, which is released as a fundraising variety album.<\/p>\n<p>Singing and playing together, however, has been difficult during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Conduct Becoming rep Melanie Wry says she isn\u2019t sure if an album will be produced at all this school year.<\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-34165-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/WRY-1.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/WRY-1.mp3\">https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/WRY-1.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>With all of the confusion and changing of phases, jam sessions couldn\u2019t happen six feet apart in CHMA\u2019s little studio.<\/p>\n<p>Music, however, is still being made by participants and Wry herself.<\/p>\n<p>The cause for making the music still resonates with band mates during COVID-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Wry lost both of her grandfathers to cancer just last year.<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-34165-2\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/WRY-2.mp3?_=2\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/WRY-2.mp3\">https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/WRY-2.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>She also mourns for the temporary hiatus of kitchen parties, guitars by a bonfire, and singing together during COVID-19.<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-34165-3\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/WRY-3.mp3?_=3\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/WRY-3.mp3\">https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/WRY-3.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>Rather than rush, the crew will focus on getting the word out about Conduct Becoming and branding for next year.<\/p>\n<p>If the vaccination roll-out gets the pandemic in control in time, they\u2019ll be able to do a live album launch like years past next school year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Conduct Becoming turns 20 years old this year, but is having a rough go with COVID-19 restrictions.
