{"id":33269,"date":"2021-01-19T08:01:40","date_gmt":"2021-01-19T13:01:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=33269"},"modified":"2021-01-19T10:20:10","modified_gmt":"2021-01-19T15:20:10","slug":"mums-in-black-community-still-elated-over-crayola-inclusivity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/mums-in-black-community-still-elated-over-crayola-inclusivity\/","title":{"rendered":"Moms in black community still elated over Crayola inclusivity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some women on a WhatsApp platform for Black mothers in Victoria are still excited over Crayola\u2019s inclusive books and crayons for kids that were rolled out in 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crayola launched \u201cColour of the World\u201d crayons which include 24 \u201cspecially formulated crayons\u201d designed to reflect over 40 skin tones across the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crayola <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crayola.com\/-\/media\/Crayola\/About-Us\/Press-Center-Images\/06_2020\/Crayola_COTW_Press_Release.ashx\">made the announcement on May 21<\/a>, the UN World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWith the world growing more diverse than ever before, Crayola hopes our new Colors of the World crayons will increase representation and foster a greater sense of belonging and acceptance,\u201d said Crayola CEO Rich Wuerthele in a press release. \u201cWe want the new Colors of the World crayons to advance inclusion within creativity and impact how kids express themselves.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Colours of the World materials began hitting shelves in July, just ahead of the school year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the WhatsApp group, Black mothers in Victoria have expressed their excitement about the change that the school materials could bring at the ground level and the inclusion it offers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-33269-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Crayola-audio.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Crayola-audio.mp3\">https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Crayola-audio.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some women on a WhatsApp platform for Black mothers in Victoria are still excited over Crayola\u2019s inclusive books and crayons for kids that were rolled out in 2020.
