That was followed by positive results in five mink samples the following day.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bonnie Henry says a similar outbreak at a mink farm in Denmark led to a mutation of the virus. As a result, all of the mink were culled to ensure the mutated virus could not spread. Henry says there is concern that if the virus mutates too dramatically, COVID-19 vaccines will no longer be effective.
