{"id":26200,"date":"2020-12-09T13:29:19","date_gmt":"2020-12-09T18:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=26200"},"modified":"2020-12-09T14:35:57","modified_gmt":"2020-12-09T19:35:57","slug":"agilec-and-the-grand-at-101-team-up-to-warm-feet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/agilec-and-the-grand-at-101-team-up-to-warm-feet\/","title":{"rendered":"Agilec and the Grand 101 team up to warm feet and hearts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Editor's note: This story <span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">involves<\/span> the CICW-FM community radio station where the story's reporter works.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For the third year in a row, Agilec Fergus and The Grand 101.1 are teaming up again to host a sock drive fundraiser.<\/p>\n<p>According to Canada Helps, charities cannot accept used socks for sanitary purposes, and new socks are the least donated items of clothing, yet one of the most needed items.<\/p>\n<p>Angeli Mehrotra, team leader at Agilec, said the organization got involved again this year because they care about giving back to the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think being a part of the fundraiser just helps us feel like we are more part of the community that we\u2019re working in, so we do have locations throughout Ontario, and we want to make sure we are also giving back locally too,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mehrotra said the goal of the drive is to get as many sock donations as possible because it\u2019s really not something people think of donating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know when they told me they were doing the sock drive \u2014 so, I\u2019m very new to this location \u2014 I honestly was like, \u2018oh, why aren\u2019t we doing hats, mittens and those sorts of things?\u2019 Because people forget about the socks,\u201d Mehorta said. \u201cAnd once I realized that, I realized, oh yeah, you know what? I\u2019ve never really thought about how cold people are when they don\u2019t have warm socks on their feet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mehrotra said they had lots of sock donations last year because people care about giving back to their community.
