{"id":26099,"date":"2020-12-09T05:58:13","date_gmt":"2020-12-09T10:58:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/?p=26099"},"modified":"2020-12-11T16:10:31","modified_gmt":"2020-12-11T21:10:31","slug":"city-of-victoria-calls-for-2021-artworks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada-info.ca\/en\/city-of-victoria-calls-for-2021-artworks\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Victoria calls for 2021 artwork proposals for downtown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>City of Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps is calling for artists to propose up to two artworks to be displayed on eight signage kiosks for downtown kiosks and storefronts for 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Helps, excited by this year\u2019s successful creativity, says \u201ccreating space opportunities for new and established artists and illustrators is essential to fostering a city rich with everyday artistic encounters, especially during the pandemic.\"<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s installations were wonderful and I\u2019m excited to see what our local creative community comes up with next,\" she added.<\/p>\n<p>The current call out builds \"off the success of the\u00a0<a title=\"Commute bus-shelter display\" href=\"https:\/\/www.victoria.ca\/EN\/main\/residents\/culture\/public-art\/commute-a-bus-shelter-art-exhibition.html\">Commute bus-shelter display<\/a>\u00a0program and the<a title=\" 2020 Kiosk Signage display program\" href=\"https:\/\/www.victoria.ca\/EN\/main\/residents\/culture\/public-art\/signage-kiosk-animation.html\">\u00a02020 Kiosk Signage<\/a> program,\" the city's website states.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the requirements for the submissions include that artists must live in the Capital Region, proposals are required to be submitted online and artists working different types of media can apply, be it from poetry, photography, sculpture and so forth. Up to 24 artworks will be showcased at kiosks.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for submissions is Jan. 11 at 4 p.m. PST.
