And to protect our health care system,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rVbVDPuHR4s\">she said.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that we will have limited amounts at first. So we won\u2019t be able to broadly achieve what we\u2019ve been calling community immunity, or herd immunity, right off the bat \u2013 but that will come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur first priority will be protecting those who are most at risk. Photo by Roy L Hales.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Good news from the Klahoose village<\/h2>\n<p>There is good news from the Klahoose village, on Cortes Island, where\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cortesisland.com\/tideline\/show13339a24s\/Covid19_Klahoose_update_Day_8\">Chief Kevin Peacey reports<\/a>, \u201cThere are currently NO active cases of COVID here on the reserve. 3 cases are recovered. All symptomatic testing came back negative. This is a big relief. However we are not letting our guard down as we are not out of the woods just yet. We are still going to be on lockdown until December 7th. \u201cLockdown\u201d includes the ability for our Emergency Operation Center (EOC) team being able to leave the reserve for essential or emergency purposes. Please respect our people. The last two days have been very disappointing. Look out for further updates and thanks again for those that have been supporting us. There is too many to name right now. Emote.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Good News from Campbell River<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.islandhealth.ca\/news\/covid-19-outbreaks\/discovery-harbour-outbreak-over\">Good news from Campbell River<\/a>, where a staff member at Discovery Harbour long-term care home tested positive two weeks ago. Many of whom went through the first months of this pandemic without having any cases. Without having it touch close to home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.islandhealth.ca\/sites\/default\/files\/covid-19\/documents\/public-health-covid19-daily-dashboard.pdf\">\u00a0Island Health Dashboard<\/a>\u00a0shows 41 active cases in North Vancouver Island, as of yesterday. We do not know how many of these are in the Greater Campbell River Health Area, or the three other Health Areas in North Vancouver Island, let alone specific communities or islands.<\/p>\n<p>As of 4:30 PM the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/experience.arcgis.com\/experience\/a6f23959a8b14bfa989e3cda29297ded\">British Columbia COVID 19 Dashboard\u00a0<\/a>states there were 277 active cases throughout Vancouver Island.
