A graduating Mount Allison student is calling out the university for its practices around handling sexual assaults on campus.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0a post on Instagram<\/a>\u00a0over the weekend, Michelle Roy says that in her five years attending Mount Allison, she met approximately 50 victims. She also says that another student with multiple reports of sexual assault against them was allowed to continue attending Mount Allison, and went on to harm others.<\/p>\n

Roy\u2019s Instagram post has been liked by thousands of people, and prompted dozens of replies from people sharing their own stories of sexual assault and harassment on campus.<\/p>\n

Roy has\u00a0organized a protest to take place this Thursday<\/a>\u00a0at 11am in front of the Wallace McCain Student Centre on York Street. She\u2019s calling on people to create their own posters, and is collecting stories from survivors to be read aloud at the event.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s also asking for mask-wearing and social distancing rules to be followed.<\/p>\n

Mount Allison University has responded with\u00a0their own social media post\u00a0<\/a>acknowledging the many posts and personal stories coming out on social media. The message says, \u201cthe University is committed to hearing the voices of survivors\u201d, and that \u201cfurther communication will be sent to the Mount Allison community this week.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
